Five habits that keep gold bright
14K gold does not tarnish, but it does pick up lotion, sweat and scratches. A little routine keeps every piece looking new.
- Clean gentlyWipe with a soft jewelry cloth to bring back the shine. Warm water and a drop of mild soap for stones.
- Avoid chemicalsPerfume, lotion, hairspray and cleaning agents dull the surface. Jewelry goes on last.
- Remove before waterTake it off before swimming, bathing or exercising. Chlorine and salt are the hardest on gold.
- Store safelyKeep each piece in its own pouch or box so chains do not tangle and stones do not scratch.
- Professional checkHave clasps, prongs and settings looked at once a year. We polish and inspect in our own workshop.
- Mind the claspFasten chains before you store them and open the clasp with two hands, never by pulling.
